Madonna

poseMadonna Louise Ciccone was born in Bay City, Michigan on August 16, 1959. She was raised in a strict Italian-Catholic family with her father and stepmother. Her mother died when she was only five years old of breast cancer. The death of her mother brought Madonna many hardships in life because she felt the absence of her mother made her different from most kids. In one biography, she states that if "My mother can't love me then I in will make the world love me". She was very talented throughout high school performing in school plays, cheerleading, and the dance team. She was also a straight A student. Her dream was to become the world's best dancer. Her dream broke through when she got a scholarship to the University of Michigan's dance team. She stayed at the University for about three terms. Against her strict father's wishes she moved to New York to pursue her dream. While in New York, Madonna was known as a great dance diva throughout the clubs in New York. She soon started her own band known as the Breakfast Club. That didn't work out so she went solo.

Soon after that Madonna became a sensational singer and performer. Her uniqueness towards her music is what brought her large audience. Her songs represent what women go through and endure. She has a lot of meaning in her music because she in one way or another has endured so much of what many women go through. Basically, women can relate to her music. Her spirit and inspiration to her fans is overwhelming. The main quality about her is that she was just a normal girl from the suburbs who decided to pursue her dream and would do absolutely anything to do it.

Presently, she is an active member in the Aids Institute and a big supporter of the gay community. She inspires people to pursue their dreams and stick with it. She has gone very far as a woman in America by rising up in her career and being a phenomenon. Her artisic legacy includes twelve full-length recordings, twenty-nine top-ten hits, and 15 movies, in 10 of which she had starring roles.
